Remembering the Fallen

Bob Wade

Bob Wade was a member of the University of Maryland Students for a Democratic Society.

In 1966 he stood next to the Navy recruitment table holding an anti-war sign. He stood his ground against a crowd of rightwing students in a confrontation that led to the first mass campus debate on the Viet Nam War. He also wrote articles for the SDS Spark, the organization’s campus newsletter.Bob died several years ago. We believe he suffered a heart attack.
