- UM Women’s Studies: Founded in 1971 with 3 classes, they now have PhD program.
- AFSCME Local 1072: This union for UM campus workers began during the civil rights battles of the 1960’s.
- GALOL: This is the union for UM grad students, adjuncts and lecturers. Scholars of the world unite!
- The Food Co-Op: Cooperatively distributing food since 1975.
- The Pride Alliance: The UM LGBT student organization.
- Students for Justice in Palestine: The name says it all.
- Maggi Bridwell Center for Women’s Health: Our Bodies...Our Selves in action at UM.
- Feminist Studies: A leading feminist academic journal, it has been housed at UM since the late 1970’s. Alden Waitt, who helped organize the first UM women’s liberation group, edited the publication for nearly 25 years.
