I wonder if between that far distant then and our common now has anyone started or stopped believing in any sort of god or gods? Perhaps you know someone who has?
I know people (who are very close to me) who would find it very frightening believing that our whole existence is just a matter of coincidence and chance. Their god orders their universe and shapes their world view. They believe there is a creator and (it) has a plan. They find comfort in this. Some of these plans are better than others. Some plans assure you that you can avoid death, usually by following certain rules.
I myself believe that we are a product of accident and chance. There is no creator and no plan. The rules are all man made. This of course is quite a burden, but I do find some comfort in it. How can I break any rules if there ain’t none? I used to call myself an atheist, but now a days I don’t and yet I can’t really say I believe in any god. I’m almost certain I do exist and also deep in side I believe you exist too. I think of god as a side effect of consciousness. I think therefore I am god. Cogito Ergo Dio? Help with the Latin please!
