Knowledge Workers and the New Economy

Lately there has been a lot of talk about “knowledge workers” and the “New Economy”. When I was at the University of Maryland, I trained to be a high school teacher. I ended up doing that along with a variety of other jobs. Now I am a knowledge worker, or more accurately, a member of the digital proletariat.

There have been some real big issues that have just slipped by. An organised Infomunity could have brought some stuff up before the publics eye.

- Auctioning off bandwidth
The spectrum has been chopped up and sold. Good thing they can’t sell light!

- Cable vs telephone Companies
Huge battles over the major rewriting of the telecomunications laws. Billions invoulved. What you see on TV and who carries your Internet were all affected?

-HDTV Wow you ain’t seen nothing yet. Are you aware of the comeing extinction of analog TV?

- The Trust wars.. Microsoft vs the world.
