What did our classroom education mean?

I’m fascinated by how many of us Maryland radicals turned our backs on the white collar professional world college was supposed to send us to. For example, my parents were both New Deal era low income people who caught the 1950’s boom and with help from the GI Bill, Veterans housing and hard work took me from inner city DC, to working class Glenmont and then to the split-level suburbs of Silver Spring.

This must be read somewhere between outline and poetry to
make any sense, try squinting your eyes a little.

Jane Goodall observed a chimpanzee war.

Often Native American’s were organized into
Nations composed of many tribes,
with clans often as tribal subdivisions
and many villages per tribe.
Somebody chipped the arrowheads.
Somebody hunted, lots dug the ground.

Young Male Chimps are forced out of their groups
so they don’t screw their sisters.

300,000,000 Americans among 6,000,000,000 hungry humans
I’ve actually never read Marx.

If we lived in troupes of no more than a couple of families,
commuting would be easier and we would die in our thirties.

I am an European American as are most (all) on this list,
What an amazing migration my fellow New Worlders!

We have somehow gone from Primate in small group
to Human in ever larger super group. We are swarming all over the planet!!!!
Smart politicians talk directly to Primate soul,
But rule the super group.

Neither of my parents graduated from high school nor where they born in the US or spoke English when they arrived, my father was a Teamster trucker (milk industry).

Ok so my father was the milkman happens to the best of us.

I grew up with Jimmy Hoffa’s picture on the wall in the kitchen, in a very working class area. The Kennedeys where the enemy (and still are).

My issue was not what color my collar was but how to break the cycle of wage slavery also known as being broke.

I went to college on an academic scholarship and took engineering. Why? Because it was a ticket that guaranteed a good paying job.  That was followed by an MS in Computer Science. To me both where vocational degrees guaranteeing a better lifestyle then I grew up in.

After about ten years I discovered the secret.

Work for yourself.  Start your own thing.  Then when you call your boss an asshole and go on strike you have to deal with the contradictions directly!

Now here is my point..

The concept of blue collar vs white collar is a liberal classist concept.  Using the term detracts from the prestige of a large portion of the working class who’s contributions to society are as valid as any other group’s.

Liberals, like looking down on “blue color” workers as a group that only they can save though their superior college educations and book leaned class consciousness.  Bullshit.

Guilt ridden rich kids, you know like Che, think they can save the world from the bottom up.

An approach that is bound to be more successful is to make changes from the top down.

Successful to me means everybody eats better, has access to healthcare and the pursuit of happiness.

The rest is bullshit. (Sex is included with happiness)

Somtimes men get bitter as they get older and this can be particularly true for self made men.  I finished my last remark with;
“Smart politicians talk directly to Primate soul,
But rule the super group”
There is a direct targeting of middle aged older self made men by the right.  That’s what Rush Limbo is all about. “Go ahead enjoy yourself” he sez, “you earned it, right?” They play on the fact that wealth makes you feel superior, a little more in the know than your fellow man. You are led little by little from four feet good two feet bad to four feet bad two feet good. Being a self made man and your own boss who is going to tell you you’re wearing BVD’s? You apply for membership at the country club and hang out with others who feel this superior wisdom, noblesse oblige.  Soon you will do anything to keep your position, anything!
It’s not ideology I’m talking about, it’s your very soul that dies when you let the bitterness take over.
